NMDOT Partners to Offer Safe Rides over Holiday Weekend

ALBUQUERQUE – The New Mexico Department of Transportation, Bernalillo County, The City of Albuquerque, Cumulus radio stations and Uber have partnered to support “Take a Ride on Us.” The collaborative goal is to ENDWI by offering an Uber credit of up to ten-dollars for up to two trips in the Bernalillo County metro area over the holiday weekend.

The Memorial Day “Take a Ride on Us” program begins Friday afternoon, May 24that 3:00 and runs through Monday May 27that midnight. Two-thousand rides will be offered under the Uber app, using the code: ABQMemorialDay19.  Tips are not included and refunds are not provided for trips under ten-dollars.

“If you choose to drink over Memorial Day weekend, don’t drink and drive. There’s just no excuse for it.” Says NMDOT Cabinet Secretary Michael Sandoval. “Exercise your options.  Plan ahead. Get a safe ride home.” Sandoval adds.

Since Christmas 2018, this public-private partnership has provided more than 4,000 safe rides home to New Mexican’s living in the Albuquerque metro area who chose not to drink and drive. Working together, we can ENDWI.
